Same-ies. They're everywhere and hard to miss. You've likely been trapped into trying to be like them, and so have I. Same-ies are like that click in high school who bond over the most random thing like long hair, white Vans, the Amaro Instagram filter. We all want to be part of something greater than ourselves. But in business, it's better to wean yourself off the same-y breast and start making your own food. Huh?
It's hard to stand out in a sea of same-ies because they're the ones in our industry who are the experts and they're running the town in your industry. They're the successful ones making 'multiple six-figures' per month and so on and so forth. But the thing is, these people are outliers, meaning they are few and far between. Not always, but mostly.
It's perfectly fine to emulate them. See what they're doing and how those things can benefit your business. But don't copy every strategy in the hopes that you too will have a 'million dollar launch.' Spend some time strategizing, refining and growing your business in a way that presents your unique qualities. Here are 3 ways to stand-put in a sea of same-ies.
1) STREAMLINE YOUR IMAGES - We all know that images are key in social media. Try to have a cohesive idea in all of your images. Can you use just 3 colors. I'm now using black, gold, white and sometimes pink. Can you use a certain font that people will start to recognize as your own. I'm using 'Gratititude' in my worksheets and checklists. Use a special filter or blur the background on your images. Stand out by making them unique. Take my social media image design course on Canva, PicMonkey and Wordswag here. Or download 52 images to use willy nilly here. Make your images really your own.
2) SPEAK YOUR SOUL - Your words are a window to the world. When you open up we can see and hear you. You don't have to dive into every mundane detail about your lunch, but we want to know what you think about life, the world, and us. Use words that describe how others see you. Survey the 5 closest people to you and find out what one word they would use to describe you. This invaluable piece of information can begin to shape your message to the world.
3) USE A DIFFERENT PLATFORM - If everyone in your industry is using Facebook, why don't you try something new and different like SnapChat, Instagram or Medium. This can be a game-changer for your business. Using a different platform allows you to develop your own creativity and establish your streamlined images, your soul speak and tell the world what you have to offer.
I can't wait to see how you'll use these three things to stand out! Leave a comment, tag me in something so that I can see you and interact with your unique perspective.
