We're getting used to algorithm changes by now. But it doesn't make it any less feather-rustling.
We like our timelines and news feeds exactly how we learned to use them originally. It's human nature to do things the way we were taught, and we are uncomfortable with change, especially when we adopt the things we learn as our own.
Instagram now wants to show us the most popular images instead of the latest images. Think Facebook and Pinterest timelines.
Don't panic, though! Here are 3 things you can do right now to smooth down your feathers.
First, find your fave accounts and go to their profile pages inside Instagram. Click on the 3 buttons at the top right of your screen, and click 'turn on post notifications.' Now you'll never miss @thetrendysparrow's post (or whoever your fave of the day is).
Next, up your hashtag game. Put your hashtags in the comments section right after you post a photo. Do some research at 'tagsforlikes' to see what is popular in your industry, and tag away. This way you'll show up in hashtag search on a regular basis.
Finally, engage! Instagram is a place to be genuine in your comments, likes and follows. It's a 'social' network after all and people want to connect with you!
So don't panic. There is absolutely nothing we can do about changes on any social platform, so just adapt and use them to your advantage.
hashtag xo, Tammy!
